An assurance overview
Accreditations help buyers judge suitability. The final decision should also consider the exact work scope, competent personnel, insurance, risk controls and the evidence required at handover.

Accreditation Is One Part of Choosing the Right Contractor
The most useful assurance comes from matching the right evidence to the decision being made. Company schemes, individual qualifications and job-specific compliance each answer a different question.
01
The Company
Memberships, supplier schemes and certified management systems help demonstrate how the business is assessed, managed and presented for procurement.
02
The People
Qualifications such as CompEx belong to individuals. The personnel assigned must hold the competence relevant to the work being undertaken.
03
The Project
Every job still needs the correct scope, design responsibility, risk controls, installation standard, inspection, certification and handover evidence.
For procurement teams: ask for the scheme, membership level, scope, legal entity and validity date your process requires. WB can provide the current evidence relevant to the enquiry.
Electrical and specialist credentials
Competence Relevant to the Work Being Undertaken
These credentials relate most directly to electrical contracting, hazardous-area work and EV charging. Each should be read against the exact category, person, scheme or project in question.
Electrical contractor membership
SELECT
SELECT Member companies undergo regular technical assessment and operate within the organisation’s membership criteria and code of practice.
Client relevance
Independent electrical contractor assessment and a recognised Scottish industry route for checking member status.
Individual competence
CompEx Qualified Personnel
CompEx validates the competence of individuals working in potentially explosive or hazardous atmospheres. It is not a blanket company certificate for every engineer.
Client relevance
Suitable CompEx-qualified personnel can be assigned where the hazardous-area scope, modules and site requirements match their competence.
EV chargepoint schemes
OZEV Authorised Installer
OZEV authorisation enables eligible chargepoint installations and grant claims to be handled within the applicable government scheme rules.
Client relevance
Relevant where a workplace or other qualifying EV project may use an OZEV grant. Customer, equipment, site and scheme eligibility must still be confirmed.
Scottish EV funding routes
Energy Saving Trust Eligible Installer
Energy Saving Trust approval supports access to relevant Scottish chargepoint funding routes where the installer, applicant and project meet the current scheme criteria.
Client relevance
Useful for eligible Scottish EV charging projects. Funding availability, terms and installer lists can change, so they should be checked for the live application.
Contractor and supply chain assurance
Credentials That Support Supplier Prequalification
These schemes help buyers review contractor information without repeatedly starting from a blank questionnaire. The buyer’s own requirements, scope and approval process still apply.
CHAS
CHAS provides recognised contractor health and safety assessment routes, including SSIP-based prequalification.
Assessment focus
Health and safety arrangements and supplier prequalification. Confirm the current membership level required by your process.
SafeContractor
SafeContractor is an independent contractor assessment scheme used by clients and supply chains to support contractor risk management.
Assessment focus
Health and safety and wider contractor assurance information relevant to the assessed scope.
Constructionline
Constructionline validates supplier information and provides a recognised prequalification route used by construction buyers and main contractors.
Assessment focus
Supplier verification and procurement information. Request the current certificate if a particular membership level is mandatory.
Scheme branding and levels can change. Ask for current evidence if a specific standard is a pass or fail condition for your tender or framework.
Management, employment and digital assurance
Standards Behind How the Business Is Managed
These credentials relate to management systems, employment practice and cyber security rather than the technical design of a particular electrical installation.

Certified management system
ISO 9001:2015
A certified quality management system provides a structured framework for consistent processes, customer requirements, corrective action and continual improvement.
The published certificate states the certified scope. Check the certificate itself for legal entity, scope and validity.

Certified management system
ISO 14001:2015
A certified environmental management system provides a structured approach to environmental responsibilities, controls and improvement within the certified scope.
The published certificate states the certified scope. Current standard transition requirements should be confirmed through the certification body.

Responsible employer accreditation
Living Wage Employer
WB Electrical is listed as an accredited Living Wage Employer, reflecting a commitment to paying the independently calculated real Living Wage.
This is an employment commitment. It should not be read as a technical endorsement of electrical work.
Cyber Security Certified
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is the government-recommended baseline cyber security scheme. Demonstrating our commitment to protecting our business, our people, and our customers against common cyber threats.
The published certification verifies that we have technical defences in place to safeguard our systems and protect your data.

For tenders and supplier onboarding
Use the Credentials as the Start of Due Diligence
A clear request helps the office team provide the right evidence and helps your procurement team avoid checking documents that do not apply to the planned work.
01
Define the Requirement
State the project, procurement route, mandatory schemes, required membership levels, insurance limits and any forms or portals to be completed.
02
Check Scope and Dates
Confirm the legal entity, activities covered, certificate number, issue and expiry dates, and whether the evidence must remain valid for the whole contract period.
03
Match People to the Work
Where competence is individual, confirm the required modules, cards or training and ensure the personnel assigned are suitable for the specific site and activity.
