An Established Electrical Relationship That Led to Workplace Charging

WB Electrical has supported Procladd at its Hamilton premises since 2018. The relationship began with practical electrical requirements such as lighting repairs, socket installations, additional spurs, fault finding, EICR inspections, PAT testing and reactive maintenance.

In 2025, that established relationship developed into a larger project: the installation of 10 black Easee commercial EV charger units for staff and business use at Bothwell Bridge Business Park. WB Electrical delivered the associated electrical installation, setup, testing and handover.

The challenge

Adding Multiple Chargepoints to an Existing Workplace

Installing multiple workplace chargepoints is more involved than mounting equipment beside parking spaces. The electrical supply, distribution, protection, cable routes, charger locations, user access and commissioning requirements all need to work as one installation.

Working business premises

The installation had to be planned for an occupied business premises, with access and work areas coordinated around normal site activity.

Electrical capacity and distribution

Ten charger units create a different electrical design question from one isolated chargepoint. Available capacity, circuit arrangement and the intended pattern of use all matter.

Parking and cable routes

Charger positions and containment routes need to suit the parking layout, physical environment, electrical source and the way users approach the spaces.

User access and operation

Procladd needed a practical way to control who could use the chargers. Easee Keys were supplied for access by authorised users.

The charger is only one part of the project: a useful workplace system also depends on the electrical infrastructure, parking arrangement, user access, testing, certification and a clear handover.

Define the Charging Requirement

Confirm the intended users, number of charging spaces, vehicle patterns, parking arrangement and the information already available for the site.

Review Supply and Routes

Review the electrical context, proposed charger positions, cable routes, access requirements and any isolation or sequencing needed for the premises.

Install and Commission

Install the agreed charger units and associated electrical infrastructure, then complete the inspection, testing and setup relevant to the installation.

Handover and Support

Provide the agreed access tools, certification and completion information, explain the system handover and identify any separate follow-on recommendation.

The Grant Terms Were Specific to the 2025 Project

The Procladd installation was planned under the Workplace Charging Scheme terms available in 2025. At that time, eligible projects could receive support of up to 75% of costs, capped at £350 per socket.

That historical figure belongs to this project record. Grant values, eligibility rules, installer requirements and completion deadlines can change, so they should be checked afresh for every new enquiry.
