Future-Proof Charging Solutions for Every Sector

Commercial EV Charging That Starts With The Electrical Infrastructure

Commercial EV charging is not just a charger on a wall. On a live business site, it needs to be designed around available capacity, distribution, user demand, vehicle dwell times, across control, future expansion and long-term maintenance.

That is where WB Electrical adds value.

We approach EV charging as part of your wider electrical infrastructure. Before we recommend hardware, we look at how your site operates, who needs to charge, when vehicles are parked, how much power is available and what needs to be in place for the system to remain safe, usable and scalable.

This helps avoid common issues such as overloading supplies, poor cable routes, nuisance tripping, unmanaged demand, unsuitable chargers or installation that are difficult to expand later.

How commercial EV charging projects are delivered

Initial enquiry and site requirements

We confirm the type of site, number of chargers required, expected users, parking arrangement, vehicle types, charging windows and whether the system is for staff, fleet, customers, tenants, residents or public use.

Survey and electrical capacity review

We assess the existing supply, distribution boards, cable routes, earthing arrangement, spare capacity, parking bays, access requirements and communication options such as Wi-Fi, data cabling or 4G.

Design and charger selection

The proposed system is matched to your site. This may include single or multiple AC chargers, smart charging, load management, access control, user billing, future expansion or preparation for a larger fleet.

Grant and funding check

Where relevant, we can help identify whether OZEV support, landlord funding, factored development funding or other routes may apply. Grant eligibility is not guaranteed, but we can help clients understand what technical information may be required.

Installation and commissioning

Our engineers install the chargers, electrical supplies, protection, containment, isolation, labelling and communication arrangements. Chargers are commissioned and tested before handover.

Handover, support and maintenance

We help with app setup, user guidance and basic handover. Ongoing maintenance and support can also be arranged to help keep the charging infrastructure safe, available and reliable.

Got a question about our commercial EV charging services

Frequently Asked Questions

Client-owned vs funded/CPO

Not every commercial EV charging project needs the same ownership model.
For some sites, the best route is a client-owned system where the business pays for the installation, owns the chargepoints and controls how the chargers are used. This is often suitable for staff charging, fleet charging, private workplace bays and sites where the organisation wants direct control.

For other sites, especially customer-facing or destination charging, a funded or charge point operator model may be worth considering. This may reduce upfront cost and provide support with payment systems, tariffs, public charging access, driver support and network operation.

WB Electrical can help you understand which route is more suitable for your site, then support the electrical design, installation, commissioning and maintenance requirements.

Option A: Client-owned EV charging

Best suited to:

  • Workplaces
  • Fleet depots
  • Staff car parks
  • Private business sites
  • Organisations wanting direct control
  • Sites where charging is mainly for internal use

Option B: Funded or CPO-supported EV charging

Best suited to:

  • Hotels
  • Retail and leisure sites
  • Public-facing car parks
  • Destination charging
  • Rural or visitor-heavy locations
  • Sites where revenue share or low upfront cost is important
