Confirm the equipment, locations, issued design, physical installation standard and which party owns network design, configuration, commissioning, accounts and final acceptance.

Survey routes, mounting, power and access
Review cabinets, cable paths, containment, mounting surfaces, electrical supplies, high-level or external access, environmental exposure, operational constraints and the condition of infrastructure being retained.

Install, test and hand over the physical work
Complete the agreed cabling, mounting, terminations, equipment interfaces and electrical work, then return the specified labels, test outputs, readings, photographs, exceptions and outstanding actions.

Configuration can be included by agreement where the approved design, credentials, responsibility and acceptance criteria are clear. Depending on the project, this may be completed by suitable WB resource or an appointed network specialist.
A completed physical installation does not by itself prove application performance, wireless coverage, cyber security or provider service levels. Those outcomes depend on the wider network solution and final technical acceptance.

WB teams are currently supporting a specialist connectivity provider across operational utility sites throughout Scotland, including remote and island locations. The physical scope has included access planning, proposed-position checks, signal readings, 4G and 5G antennas, Starlink equipment, weather-resistant routes, routers, cabinets, access points, structured cabling, power and completion records.
The provider retains the digital solution, hardware and service strategy, configuration and final network-performance responsibility while WB delivers the agreed physical infrastructure. Client and provider names remain withheld while publication approval is being sought.

Choosing the physical scope
What data and connectivity work does WB Electrical provide?
WB provides physical connectivity infrastructure including CAT6 and CAT6A cabling, fibre routes, data cabinets, patch panels, Wi-Fi access-point infrastructure, 4G and 5G antennas, Starlink equipment, electrical supplies, containment and multi-site rollout support. The exact testing, specialist fibre work, configuration and handover scope is agreed for each project.
Does WB design and manage business networks?
WB’s primary role is physical installation. Network architecture, cybersecurity, carrier or service selection, RF design, wireless design, managed monitoring and final network acceptance normally remain with the appointed IT or connectivity specialist unless a specific responsibility is agreed in writing.
Can configuration be included?
Yes, by agreement. Where the platform, approved design, credentials, technical responsibility and acceptance criteria are clear, configuration may be completed through suitable WB resource or an appointed network specialist. Ongoing managed-network support is not automatically included.
Can WB coordinate data and electrical work in one package?
Yes. Where appropriate, WB can coordinate containment, structured cabling, cabinets, equipment mounting, local electrical supplies, PoE interfaces and related electrical work so the physical infrastructure reaches the equipment as one defined package.
Planning the installation
Can WB support occupied and operational sites?
Yes. Surveys and installation can be planned around working hours, public activity, production, loading areas, access restrictions, critical equipment and other trades. The method depends on the actual site and work package.
Can WB support remote, island and multi-site projects?
Yes. Suitable programmes can incorporate travel, ferries, accommodation, access equipment, weather windows, site contacts, standard materials, site packs and consistent completion records while retaining each location’s own exceptions.
What testing and records can be included?
The quotation should define the required cable tests, fibre tests where applicable, signal readings, electrical checks, labels, equipment references, photographs, schedules and completion format. Verification, qualification and certification should not be treated as interchangeable terms.
Responsibilities and future changes
Can WB install fibre optic cabling?
WB can deliver physical fibre routes, backbone links, containment and cable installation. Fibre type, pulling method, termination, fusion splicing, cleaning, optical-loss testing, OTDR and certification responsibilities must be assigned explicitly before work begins.
Can WB install Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G and Starlink equipment?
Yes, where the physical requirement is defined. WB can install agreed cabling, mounts, antennas, access points, satellite equipment, power and router or cabinet interfaces. RF design, provider decisions, subscriptions and final performance acceptance normally remain with the appropriate specialist.
How should a multi-site rollout be standardised?
Use an agreed pilot or installation standard, site pack, materials approach, labels, photographs, test or signal-reading method, exception route and completion status. Standardise the repeatable parts without hiding genuine local access, route or technical differences.
