Hazardous area installs that stand up to scrutiny and real-world maintenance

Hazardous areas exist anywhere flammable gases, vapours, mists, or combustible dusts could form an explosive atmosphere. Hazardous area classification is a method of assessing how likely that atmosphere is, and how long it may persist, which then drives the equipment and installation approach.

WB Electrical delivers hazardous area installations as a structured, electricians-led service:

  • New installations, additions, and alterations within hazardous zones
  • Replacement or upgrade of Ex equipment, accessories, and supporting containment
  • Cable routing and containment designed for access, inspection, and maintenance
  • Safe isolation, permits, and phased works to reduce disruption on live sites
  • Commissioning, testing, and handover documentation suitable for dutyholders

We coordinate with your site team and any hazardous area assessor. If your classification drawings and Ex register are in place, we work to them. If they are not, we can support you in getting the right information in place before work begins.

Equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres must be suitable for the specific hazard, and correctly marked and conformity assessed, HSE guidance highlights ATEX markings and certification expectations.

For wider site upgrades, see Containment and Conduit, Distribution Boards, and Specialist Power Supplies. For ongoing reliability, explore Planned Preventative Maintenance, Thermal Imaging and Condition Monitoring, and Compliance Testing.
