OZEV grants, what they cover and how we support you

Commercial EV charging is an electrical infrastructure project first. If capacity, distribution, routing and controls are not planned properly, the install becomes unreliable and expensive to expand. WB Electrical supports grant-funded workplace and fleet charging with an electricians-led approach that suits commercial and industrial sites.

There are two main commercial schemes most businesses use:

Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

  • Covers up to 75% of purchase and installation costs (including VAT), capped at £350 per socket.
  • Supports up to 40 sockets across all sites per applicant.
  • Open to businesses, charities, public sector organisations, and small accommodation businesses.
  • Installed by an OZEV authorised installer, who claims the grant on the applicant’s behalf.

EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets (SMEs)

  • For businesses with 249 employees or fewer, and the property must be in the UK.
  • Covers 75% of costs, up to £15,000, including £350 per socket and £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure.
  • Must install at least one socket, and carry out work on at least 5 parking spaces.
  • Charging under this grant is for staff and fleet only, it cannot be used by the public.
  • The scheme includes a minimal financial assistance cap of £315,000 over 3 financial years.

Important combination rule
WCS can be used alongside the staff and fleets infrastructure grant on the same site, but not for the same chargepoints. Installer guidance also states that if using both, you first claim at least one working chargepoint under the staff and fleets grant, then use WCS for chargepoints added later
